Score Lines in Silhouette Studio and Cricut Design Space

Posted by Nancy Murray on

You may have noticed you've been receiving a number of emails over the last couple weeks letting you know that files you've purchased have an update available. What's it all about?

Improved compatibility with Cricut and Silhouette Software

I've been hard at work updating the patterns in the store to make them even easier for Silhouette and Cricut users to cut. The big change is every updated file now includes a folder called Silhouette & Cricut Files. Inside that folder, you'll find an SVG file with solid red lines indicating the score lines.

When you bring the files into Silhouette Studio, you'll see that each piece that needs to be folded has solid red lines as shown below.

When you go to the Send tab to cut your pieces, click on Line. You'll see one full set of shapes set to solid red, as shown below. Click the down arrow beside Cut and change the line style to Score, and then cut your project as you would normally.

When you bring the files into Cricut Design Space, you'll see that each piece that needs to be folded also has solid red lines as shown below. Even though the lines show up as black on your workspace, if you pop over to the Color Sync tab you'll see that they are all red.

Back on the Layers tab, to change all the lines to score lines, hold down your shift key and select each of the lines that need to be changed. Then up on the top menu under Operation, click the down arrow beside Basic Cut and select Score. This will change all the selected lines to score lines, and then you can cut project.

I hope you find this change helpful! I'll be working on getting all my patterns updated as quickly as possible, so keep watching your inbox for those email notifications!

  • Just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for thinking of all your customers. Helping to update files so that it makes it easier on us, and then to send notices to all of us, a true thank you for this step
